@sixt9stang I hope that explains my position as such, but I was being rash in my original comment.

Good for you for sticking up for the Kindle. It’s a great device that some say does e-reading better than anything else in the market place, and it’s new $189 price point may just keep it on top as more and more tablet devices encroach on it’s territory.

How do you see the Kindle hardware evolving?

@sixt9stang The Kindle technology is optimized for print media. The iPad is optimized for video, audio, some web media, too a lesser degree print, but it’s applications like this that can can package all this media into something that is truly something to behold. Where as you can still get the print version of Popular Mechanics sent you for 12 bucks a year through Amazon, but it’s not even available on the Kindle in it’s magazine format. A shame.

@sixt9stang I see your point and it’s a good one. When I made my comment, I was super enthused about this great new app. It was a cheap shot at the Kindle.

And you are right about the Kindle and iPad being completely different machines. BUT they are perceived by many to both be tablet devices and are invariably linked together as two products in the same market. That is where my comparison is based.

You may feel that is not the case because the Kindle was only developed as an e-reader.

@theden0minat0r Yes, it is a very cool app but your comment about the kindle is just stupid. They are completely different machines. Should I say “Let’s see the battery on the iPad’s last a couple of weeks.” No. That would also be stupid.

Sorry but I hate when people say crap like that.

Looks really cool! this demonstration really encourages me to buy it. However I really think $1.99 per issue is too much compared to the print subscription; at least why don’t we have a digital subscription of somewhere around $10?

I love it! Much more refined and more practical than the Wired app.
Keep up the good work!

This new popular mechanics app looks amazing. This is the way print periodicals will need to go to evolve and thrive!

On a side note! Go Apple! Let’s see a kindle do that!!!
